2. You have $60 to buy fish for a 30 gallon aquarium. Each angelfish costs $12 and needs at least 6 gallons of water. Each neon tetra costs $3 and needs at least 3 gallons of water. How many of each kind of fish can you buy?
So I am going to let x = the number of angelfish and y = the number of neon tetras.
But I am stuck from here.
you can buy 4 angel and 2 neon..
You're an angel! I have to show my work though >.<
Is that a question about probability O.O ?
Then I have to graph it :/
Well the paper is called 'find the errors'. They pretty much do the problem, but they mess it up and you have to find the error that they made and redo the entire problem and show it. This is what they did" Cost 12x+3y<=60 y<=-4x+20 Water: 6x+3y<=30 y<=-2x+10
So no, it isn't a probably question.
just solve for x and y :D
and the graph is easy...
I just have to graph 4 and 2, right?
Word problems are not my talent at all!
what values did you get for x and y ?
x = 4 and y = 2
|dw:1380665470169:dw|
Equation : y = -4x + 20 x cannot be negative... and x should be equal to 1 or greater..
suppose x = 1, y = -4 (1) + 20 = .... then Coordinates : ( 1 , 16 )
I'm with you so far
then x = 2 , y = _____ x = 3 , y = ______ x = 4 , y = __________
I am confused on where to go from here to find the answer
you need to find several coordinates to plot your graph
x = 2 , y = 12 ( 2 , 12) x = 3 , y = 8 (3 , 8 ) x = 4 , y = 4 ( 4 , 4 ) x = 5 , y = 0 ( 5 , 0 )
|dw:1380665861443:dw| my diagram is not accurate... but on graph paper you will have a straight line
|dw:1380666044686:dw| ( x = 5 , y = 0 ) This means that you can buy 5 angel but 0 neon..
