PLEASE HELP: Vector help, please! What does all this due "some direction" stuff mean? For example, in a problem involving several forces acting on an object (thus several vectors) I'm given a vector that states 20N of force due north. Then I'm asked to find the x an y component of that vector??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

due north in an x-y plane is up. so [0, 20] or 0i + 20j

So how do I find the x and y component?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

due means directly. |dw:1380669811241:dw| it is entirely in the y direction. so the x component is 0 and the y component is 20 N
