Find the distance between (1, -2) and (-4, 3).

The distance between two points is given by a formula,\[d=\sqrt{(x _{2}-x_{1})^2+(y _{2}-y_{1})^2}\] So, simply plugging in the points, remember they are given as (x,y), \[d=\sqrt{(-4-1)^2+(3-(-2))^2}=\sqrt{(-5)^2+5^2}=\sqrt{25+25}=\sqrt{25}+\sqrt{25}=5+5=10\] So the distance between those points is 10.
