It helped them make new things like they do today by sellingnthings from stands now to around the world like cars, so they definately gained.
They both make and sell things to everyone but it might have put to much on one economy to handle like japna sells around the world and has the nice buildings but when something happens like ex: the tusnami they have to rebuild and gain up again.
Yep the bult their own things and made their own way to selling around the world and being above and beyond the working point, they worked up to it.
