Does any body know ? Why is Nathaniel Hawthorne inspired by his writing ? or What he did to his writing that excited the readers?

He wasn't really inspired by his writings, he was just really passionate about it. For example, in the Scarlet Letter, he was basically speaking out against puritan society because he thought that they were controversial and hypocritical.
