what is larger 1/6 or 1/7

OpenStudy (nurali):

6 is less then < 7 , but when inverted into fractions it becomes greater than (>) 1/6 > 1/7 Think one half (1/2) and one quarter (1/4) , instinctively you know one half is larger than one quarter, but '2' is smaller then '4'. The same applies throughout fractions. The bigger the bottom number, the smaller the fraction. 1/2 > 1/4 It follows 1/6 > 1/7

OpenStudy (goformit100):

1/6 or 1/7 = 7/42 or 6/42 Hence 1/6 is greater.
