is y=x^4 a parabola? The way I would think to go about checking would be testing the distance from a point the graph to the directrix, and then from the focus to said point. Without knowing those things, I have no idea how to prove/disprove... help?!

love the pic! yeah, that would be a way... rewrite as y = (x^2)^2 then get the focus and directrix and check the distance.
