3p-7p+22=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to isolate "p" to one side of the equation to solve for "p". So move 22 over to the other side, by subtracting it from both sides, then combine like terms. Add 3p and -7p. Once you get to that point you should have -4p=-20 divide -4 on both sides

please explain

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

bring 22 to the other side and add on both sides!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

OK?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(my 3rd day.... seriously!)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3p-7p+22=2 \]\[3p-7p+22-22=2-22 \]\[3p-7p=-20 \]\[-4p=-20\]\[\frac{ -4p }{-4 }=\frac{ -20 }{ -4 }\]\[p=\frac{ -20 }{ -4 }\]\[p=\frac{ 20 }{4 }\] p=5
