A page of pictures for a yearbook is 8 inches wide and 11 and 1/2inches tall. The top margin is 1/2 inch and the bottom margin is 5/4inches. The space between each picture is at least 6/16 inch. How many 1.5-inch-tall pictures can fit in one column?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11½ -½ -5/4 -6/16 = divide by 1½, i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to divide fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11-5/4-6/16= divide by 1 1/2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i got 6 1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me on how did you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i put it in my texas instrument calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow.. i see.. so if you got 6 1/4 that means 6.4 right? should i round it off? or round up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get 6.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i'll round that to 6? or 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):
