Well, women contributed in the American Revolution by taking a role in both British and American Armies. These women would go constantly to military camps, being known and called "camp followers." They contributed by cooking, childcare, mending, laundry and nursing the sick. Yet they were paid a small pay (wage) and they were only supplied half of the food to themselves. Hope it helps :)
