The probability that a certain electronics component fails when first used is 0.25. If it does not fail immediately, the probability that it lasts for 1 year is 0.89. What is the probability that a new component will last 1 year?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well the probability of not failing when 1st used is 0.75 P(new and lasts 1 year ) = 0.75 x 0.89 just a guess
