The ratio of the areas of two circles is 25:16. What number, when multiplied by the smaller diameter, will give the larger diameter?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hint : for similar figures, if areas are in ratio \(a~ : ~b\) , then lengths will be in ratio \(\sqrt{a} : \sqrt{b}\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hint2 : all circles are similar

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u figured out the number to be multiplied ? :) wud like to see wat u got

Thanks :) But would 5/4 be the correct answer?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

clearly diameters will be in ratio 5 : 4 say, diameters are 5, 4 so to get to 5, we can multiply 4 wid 5/4

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're right !

Thank You!
