A concave lens can only form a A. real image. B. reversed image. C. virtual image. D. magnified image. in my book it says concave makes a real image and convex makes a virtual image can someone please explain to me why this one isnt A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its c because Light can be transmitted through long fiber optic strands through virtual image

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says in my book that it can form real or virtual images depending on the type of mirror i tried copy and past to show u the whole passage but it comes up blocks. but still my question is there. it could have been A or C? why just C. because it clearly states it could be either?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correction it says, " the type of image formed depends on where the object is in relation to the mirror." idk if that makes much of a deference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. do yu have a spoon? serious question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The real image is formed when the rays converge and the virtual image forms when the reflected rays appear to come from a point behind the mirror.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It need to be metal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and yes i do own a metal spoon.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Grab it and have the concave side face to yu.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mkayy i see myself upside down which is a real image correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OkayThis is a spoon. but yu understand that the sppon relfects right? but we need a lens.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mkayy not sure i see where your going with this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Grab it and have the concave side face to yu.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have been

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay im trouble explaining this, but i do understand this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

give me a sec. http://www.pa.msu.edu/courses/2000fall/PHY232/lectures/lenses/images.html will this help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the image on a spoon with change based on the distance yu are from on it. Its almost like how scientist say that we see upside down, based on the shape of our eyes, convex. This is the real image.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i havent went to the web site yet but i chose real image on my test and it said it was wrong? like i said in a previous comment couldnt it be either a or c? i didnt understand how i got it wrong but idk im just confused. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i went to the website and thats almost exactly whats in my book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i retook it and went with C it was correct even tho im not sure why.
