Find the domain of square root of Root of (x^2-7x+12/2x^2-11x+5) (Divided)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Root of (x^2-7x+12/2x^2-11x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No no square root of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the / divided by?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or is it splitting the equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I found the roots as x=4 or x=3 and x=5 or x=1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I edit the question to make it clear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not too sure sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okey ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{\frac{ x^2-7x+12 }{ 2x^2-11x+5}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this your function?

hartnn (hartnn):

your question is of the form , \(\Large \sqrt{\dfrac{N}{D}}\) N = numerator, D = denominator. so firstly, we cannot have the values of x for which denominator =0, in the domain, so find x for which \(\Large D=0\) Secondly, we cannot have a negative quantity under the square root sign, for domain of reals, so we need, \(\Large \dfrac{N}{D}\ge0\) this will be satisfied by 2 conditions, \(\large N \ge 0 \:and\: D\ge 0 \\ \large or, N \le0 \:and \:D \le 0 \) use these conditions to find your domain :)
