Explain pigeon hole principle. Using this principle show that in any group of 36 people, we can always find 6 people who were born on the same day of week.

OpenStudy (jack1):

pidgeon hole theory: If n > m pigeons are put into m pigeonholes, there's a hole with more than one pigeon 7 days... 36 people m = 7 n = 36 ... there has to be 6 or more than 6 on one day of the week ( at least)

OpenStudy (jack1):

36/7 = 5+1 remainder so split evenly, u have 6 days with 5 people sharing, and 1 day with 6 people
