a baseball dropped from the roof of a tall building takes 3.1 seconds to hit the ground. how tall is the building?

OpenStudy (nottim):

this is an example of v=d/t

OpenStudy (nottim):

whereas v=speed, d=distane, t=time. you should be able to solve from here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can use the kinematic equation \[r = v _{o}t + \frac{ 1 }{ 2 } a t ^{2}\] where r is the distance traveled , Vo is the initial velocity, is the time and a is the acceleration .

OpenStudy (nottim):

wait, the 5 kinematic equations factor in here? I thought it was simpler. But I think you're right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For this problem you can consider the baseball is falling from rest, so the acceleration a would be g ( acceleration due to gravity ) which is equal to 9.8 m/sec^2 and Vo is zero

thank you guys!! :))

u r welcome
