Which function results in the largest degree function and which in the smallest degree function? f(x)=4x^2+7 f(x)=4x^2-5x+3

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

The are both Degree 2. What's the whole, exact question.

Two swimmers, Ryan and Michael, create unique ripple waves in the water. The function created by Ryan is f(x) = 4x^2 + 7. The function created by Michael is f(x) = 4x^2 - 5x +3. Describe to them which operation results in the largest degree function and which operation results in the smallest degree function. Show your work to justify your reasoning.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I do not understand the question, but it seems that -5x is the key.

Ripples created by parabolas? This question is weird. Both those functions have degree 2. Maybe it's a trick question.
