Find (f o g)(-2) and (f o g)(3) F(x)=|x|, g(x)=3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) (-2) f(x) = |x|, g(x) = 3x

OpenStudy (phi):

(f o g)(-2) means first find g(-2). that means in g(x)=3x , replace the x with -2 (and remember 3x is short for 3*x) once you find g(-2), use that number to replace x in f(x)= |x| can you do that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no that is why I need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=\left| x \right|\]\[g(x)=3x\]\[f(g(x))=\left| 3x \right|\] \[f(g(-2))=\left| 3(-2) \right|=\left| -6 \right|=6\]\[f(g(3))=\left| 3(3) \right|=\left| 9 \right|=9\]
