Physics (simple trig): a novice pilot sets a plane's controls, thinking that the plane will fly 250 km/hr to the north. If the wind blows at 75 km/hr to the south east (135 degrees), what is the plane's resultant velocity?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

To add velocities, notice that they are vectors with direction. The wind is not blowing along the y-axis like the plane is moving straight north. So what you will have to do, is obtain the component vector of the wind in the y-axis and add the 2 velocities together.
