how do you determine where to shade an inequality

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Test one point form a region in the original inequality. If it works, the entire region works and is shaded. If it doesn't work, then shade the other region.

Lets say you have (x-2)(x+4)>0 as an example Your test points would be x=2 and x= -4 so draw a line from -5 to 3 Test the equation with -5, -4, 0, 2, 3 Shade in whenever the answer is MORE than zero
