If n is odd, which represents the first consecutive even integer after n? n + 1 n + 2 2n 4n

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

what do you add to any odd number to get to the next odd number... examples 13 and 15 33 and 35 121 and 123 so let the 1st number be n... what do you add to it to get the next odd number..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tbh: i dont get this ?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what is the first even number after 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what did you add to 3 to get 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so you had a odd number and you added 1 to get the next even number what do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2n+1 will always give you an odd number

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

lol... sorry, I thought it was odd numbers...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2n+1 is correct @zzr0ck3r

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what did you mean by 1?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

2n+1 is not even an option....

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

if you take an odd number n and add 1 to it, you get the next even number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2n will always yield an even number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i just messed myself up ,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i jut messed up its 2n!!! i.e 2(1)=2, 2(3)=6, 2(177)=354

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

it wants the next consecutive even number after an odd number if you take 3 then 4 is the next even if you take 5 then 6 is the next even so if you take an odd number n then n+1 is the next even number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 2 n , right ? you said add 1 to get to the next even number , i got it okayy thankyouu . :P for making me understand

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

no

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

take 3 is 2*3 = 6 the next even number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's not since n+1 is even but after that it's odd so it's alternating between even and odd

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

" If n is odd, which represents the first consecutive even integer after n?" in other words if n is odd, what represents the next even number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

1 what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1n

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

if n is odd then n represents the next even number?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

i have told you the answer 4 times now:P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

2 what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

is 2 an option?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok got i , thankks for your help .

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

ok please just think about what I say dont type anything except yes or no do you under stand this it wants the next consecutive even number after an odd number if you take 3 then 4 is the next even if you take 5 then 6 is the next even so if you take an odd number n then n+1 is the next even number ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so which option is the answer? a), b), c), or d)?
