Where would -1 5/8 go on a number line?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Well. It would be inbetween -1 and 0. Why? You have t think of 8 from 5/8 as 1 because it is 1 WHOLE. Obviously, the space between -1 and 0 have to be divided by eight equal parts, and it will be in the fifth one. So, it would be more towards 0 than -1.
