Does the given problem have an "= 0" on the end? If so, you did not post it.

So, I don't know if we are supposed to just factor the given expression OR to find something else. To me, it looks like a factoring problem

That is not a good practice because it changes the nature of the problem from an algebraic expression to an equation.
