The revolution only provided freedom from Great britain. it did not provide for equal power with in the 13 colonies.

Equal power as in rights between black and white men
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Slavery continued after the revolution because a large number of slaves without any charge were quite important for English economy. They were not ready to extent liberty to slaves at any cost .
