Is there anyone who could help me get through this algebra really quickly? I'm behind and don't understand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you should write your question ahead eitherway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

about to attach it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is 13 or -13 since X is an absolute values it will always be positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one is A i assume The 3rd one is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u think u can figure the last problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I literally have no clue how you're figuring these out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what absolute value are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a number with is an absolute value is always positive for example |8|= 8... or |-8|=8.. regardless of in any situation, a values that are with in an absolute | | are always positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that still isn't helping me. like i don't know what to do with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So in practice "absolute value" means to remove any negative sign in front of a number, and to think of all numbers as positive for the first problem |x|+5 = 18.. you could sub 13 or -13 to the absolute value of X and u will get 18 since the absolute value removes the negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

google or read about the absolute value to have more understanding on it.. for the last problem the answer is A) 1/8 or -1/8.....since when u sub either 1/8 or -1/8 for a, you get -5/8
