Infection Diseases! C. jejuni What does the word "jejuni" mean and whre did it come from? Also, what are economic effects of c. jejuni?

thomaster (thomaster):

Campylobacter jejuni campylobacter = genus jejuni = species The bacteria causes enteritis which results in diarrhea, so maybe economic effects are the increased cost of sewage systems? :P Or maybe look at this article: http://www.about-campylobacter.com/campylobacter_economic_impact#.UlO8XyR7Kt0

This was in the 90's though :O Do you still think that the cost is still $920 :O Or possible more now? And as for my other question. I meant what does the latin word mean. I know "campylobacter" means rod shaped. But idk what jejuni means. And Do you think you could possibly explain how c. jejuni undergoes Oxidative stress defense? Like in a somewhat simple form? :O Thanks for your help!

thomaster (thomaster):

campylobacter means twisted bacteria No idea what jejuni means, don't know greek/latin :( Also I didn't read the article (and I currently don't have time for that) so can't help you with that.
