There is no line or side in java language. Actually it depends on statement. But, if two statement ar written on same line then the left one will be compiled first.

It generally goes left to right, but you also have to think about operator precedence. Operators with higher precedence are compiled before those with lower precedence, and certain statements work in similar ways to that notion.
