I have the equation y-5= 2x - 10. I want to add 5 to the 2x-10 side. Would I treat 10 as a negative number and make it 2x-5 or as a positive number and make it 2x-15??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you always keep the sign in front of the number, dont think of it as minus 10 but instead as -10. so when you add 5 to 2x-10. it becomes y=2x-5

Thank you. I feel stupid for even having to ask that question :P
