All the kids on here do is chat instead of study like we're supposed to do...

@thomaster, no the kids seriously just don't ever answer the questions because they are too busy IMing in the chat boxes. :/

Those "kids" are usually here to get help with their questions. The people who help other people combine chat and helping people. If you want their attention just tag them. Remember that people do not have to help you, they'll help you if they feel like it.

I know that they don't have to help anyone, but if you're going to be a user on this site, you need to use it for school work and then for fun after school is done.
I don't think you've seen the Mathematics IM because they don't do any school work in that chat. In fact, they usually are talking about pointless things or inappropriate things.
I don't want to argue about it, but there are more people that share my opinion on this subject. I've talked to about 10 people in this last week that were whining about not ever getting help because the other kids are too busy playing around. It's just a fact. A sucky one...but it is. :/

The chat is not meant for educational purposes, just a place to hang out and meet new people. If we don't have the chat, questions would be spammed with nonsense.
It's true that many people are here just to chat and socialize. I don't see how that would be a problem.. just let them do whatever they like. There are way more people who do not use the chat at all and only help other people with their questions (to say this activity is 90% in the math section). I'm sure that those whining people were all waiting on answers for non math questions. You can't do anything about it but the other sections aren't as active as mathematics. So when you post a non math question you just have to wait longer for help and be more patient.
