what is the largest rectangular area one can enclose with 14 inches of string?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The largest rectangle is a square. So if you divide 14" by 4 then you get 4 3.5" sides and area of a rectangle =L*W so 3.5*3.5=12.25 sq inches
