when potatoes are in the ground, do they swell with water when it rains? If not, how do you explain that, and if so, what would be the advantage or disadvantage?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They grow by taking in water through the roots. The potato is where the plant stores energy for new plants. They do not soak up water - Wiki.A

potatoes basically needs water to grow, rain helps even more when too much rain, the potato can be soggy when prepared if right amount, crispy and how a potato would taste like i guess? if too little, it'll be dry and hard to eat ( bad potato)
