fossil fuels currently account for the majority of the world’s energy use because they are A. distributed evenly B. nonpolluting. C. relatively inexpensive D. renewable
Well, lets use the process of deduction. A cannot be right. Fossil fuels are not distributed evenly. This is why the middle east has large deposits of crude oil and, say, Antarctica has little. B cannot be right. There are many additives to gasoline, for example, that do not burn cleanly. It would however be nonpolluting if it burnt back into clean water and CO2. D cannot be right. Fossil fuels are non-renewable. Once you burn them, they're gone and took millions of years to form from dinosaur remains. Therefore, we'll say that C is probably right or makes the most sense since its the only choice left. It turns out it is right. For example, nuclear energy is costly in terms of setting up the plants to create it as opposed to how cheap gas is, $3.15/gal here in my hometown.
thank you (:
No problem!
I have another question, can you help me ..
Sure
what renewable energy resource uses the chemical energy stored in living things? A.Coal B.Oil C.Biomass D.Solar
The key word here is living. The greek root of the word biomass is bio-, which literally means "life" or "living". So the answer is C biomass (biodiesel for example).
thank you .
