Solve each equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3^x = 23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure how to solve this. Do I use ln?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Yes, ln would work. You can rewrite this as log(base 3)23=x. Which can be rewritten as ln(23)/ln(3).

OpenStudy (gitface):

Could you not just convert the exponential format into the logarithmic format?\[3^{x} = 23 \rightarrow \log_{3}23 = x \]

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

x is approx 2.854.

Thanks!

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Sure :)
