divide: (-6x to 7th power + 16x to 5th power) % (-2x to 3rd power)

does % mean division?

if so then factor out a 2x^3 of the numerator term, so it would look like this: (2x^3)(3x^5 + 8x^3) / (-2x^3) then cancel out the the two terms that are the same, which is the (2x^3) thus -(3x^5 + 8x^3) make sense?
