√ (5x + 5) = x

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

what would you like to do with this equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the solution. I can't seem to get it.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

square both sides to get\[4x + 5 = x ^{2}\] then minus -4x on both sides then minus 5 on both sides to get \[x ^{2} - 4x - 5 = 0\] can you solve from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is actually the only part I got to lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got to here then got stuck.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

ok, then you factor so it becomes (x-5)(x+1)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg I feel stupid. This is what I get for not sleeping tonight, I should of remembered that. Thank you so much!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

your welcome :)
