Please Help! I'll give you a medal! Identify the maximum and minimum values of the function y = 3 cos x in the interval [-2π, 2π]. Use your understanding of transformations, not your graphing calculator.

The number out in front is the amplitude. The amplitude tells us the height of the graph. Since there are no other transformations in this case then do you know what the maximum and minumum are given the amplitude is 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it 3 and -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep exactly!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay!! So is that all i have to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! I believe so!

Thank you!! :)
