Shift the graph of f right 7 units is this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, shift the graph to the left 7 units?

Im confused, if the under is in parenthesis or under a sqrt it is the oposite correct?

hero (hero):

Yep, this one always trips students up. The "shift" is taking place along the x-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so the answer is Shift the graph of f left 7 units, because that really mean +7 instead of -7

hero (hero):

There's a way to think about it, but this isn't exactly the right platform to demonstrate it.

Thanks for clearing it up for me
