there are 16 ounces in a pound half a pound would be 16/2 = 8 ounces.

^ yes because 1 ounce = 1/16 pound 1 pound = 16 ounces in this case its 6/12 so as he said 16/2=8 ounces so then 8x12= 96 ounces.
