Alaila has one can of tennis balls. She buys two more cans. There are 3 tennis balls in each can. How many tennis balls does she have in all?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Pretty simple, just add the cans she buys to get a total of 3, then multiply by 3, the amount of tennis balls in each one, and you should get your answer which is 9.
