sorry i didn't think to write out the work. you want to isolate x on one side. so start by subtracting 9. 4-9=-5 this leaves you with x/5=-5 multiply both sides by 5 and you get x=-25

its fin and thank you, i got one more plz :)

you want to do the same thing. isolate p to one side of the equation. -6p-21=3p-12 add 6p to both sides -21=9p-12 add 12 to both sides -9=9p dived both sides by 9 -1=p it does NOT matter what side you choose to isolate p on the answer will come out the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for -1/3m-7=5 add 7 to both sides -1/3m=12 invert the fraction and multiply m=-36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks so much :)

no problem
