Why is the sum of (1+3i) and its conjugate pair equal 2? My teacher did this, but I still don't understand the workout. Can someone please explain?

Yes it would be 1-3i

good! now take thier sum 1+3i + 1- 3i what gets cancelled ?

Ok, I see. the 3i's would get cancelled. I was thinking of it being multipiled together.
