Greater than or equal to" would be typed >=. "Less than or equal to" would be typed <=. 1. d - 1 > -3 and d + 2 < 5 2. -3k + 7 > -5 and -7k + 5 < -2 3. -5 < 2y - 3 < 23 (Hint: refer to example 2 in the lesson.) 4. x - 4 < 5 or x + 2 > 15 5. 5x - 4 > 6 or -4x + 5 > 1 May someone please help me!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you needing to solve the questions 1-5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve and graph the inequalities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so take the first problem: d - 1 > -3 and d + 2 < 5 treat inequalities like = signs, and just solve for the variable, in our case its d so d-1=-3, move the -1 over by adding 1 to each side, now it becomes d=-2, and replace the = sign with the original > sign and... d>-2 make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind of. still a little confused.

@DemolisionWolf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamil98 can you help me?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

d - 1 > -3 add 1 to both sides, you want to isolate d. d>-2 your graph would be everything to the right of -2 and open circle on -2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamil98 so all I do is add or subtract them?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Yes, you want to isolate d.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

for -3k + 7 > -5 however you have to subtract and divide -3k >-12 when dividing or multiplying by negative numbers you change the > < symbols k < 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I'm trying to work it out so I cam make sure I got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I think I got it. them when I graph it, just put it on the points?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

you graph inequalities like these on a number line
