If 4 times a number is added -9, the result is equal to 13 times the number. Find the number. Help please

4x - 9 = 13x Solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

agree, but teach instead of do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x-13x=9 so -9x=9 thus x=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright fine then. x is an unknown number. 4 times this unknown number, subtracted by 9 is equal the 13 times the number. It's all about interpreting the question, and there's not much else to write down. And @ehuman, I didn't tell him the answer. @DemolisionWolf it's -1, not 1

Can't forget the negatives :D

@hanimal725 I just get so stoaked on math!

Oh totally, so much fun... @DemolisionWolf
