Jon sells 34 of his used CDs for $8.49 each. He also sells 13 vinyl records for $3.15 each. He gets a 20% bonus for the cost of the records because they are unscratched. How much did Jonahthat ear from seeling his used CDs and records?

hero (hero):

Earnings from CD sells: 34(8.49) Earnings from Vinyl Records 13(3.15) + .20(13*3.15)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the records I got a total of $41.15 did I do that right?

hero (hero):

Did you add the 20% or no? Either way, its slightly off a bit.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First I multiplied 13 * 3.15 and then added 0.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because 20% in decimal form is 0.2

hero (hero):

You have to do it the way that I wrote it above. You cannot just add .2

hero (hero):

13(3.15) + .20(13*3.15) That entire expression reprsents the total

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the total of records is 49.14

hero (hero):

Yes, correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

hero (hero):

So now what do you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add it to the total of CDs. The over all total of them both with equal out to be $337.80

hero (hero):

Yes correct.
