When you solve the equation x plus nine equals fifteen, how do you know what number to subtract from both sides? Why is it important to subtract the same number from both sides of the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that the question or are you asking it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im asking it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you subtract 9 from 15 because your getting rid of any number on the side of B or any other variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if you dont subtract the same number it would be B+9=6 ruining the whole point of not getting 9 canceled on the side of the equation
