OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

PLease hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so do you know what absolute value is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm... no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

absolute value is the distance it is from zero. so, if the absolute value was say |10|, its 10 away from zero so the answer is ten. BUT if its |-10| the answer is TILL 10, because it cant be -10 away from zero. Absolute value is ALWAYS positive, so that should find the answer pretty quickly (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if the equation was |x|=10, x can be 10, or -10.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer woul be A??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could |10|=20?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i figure it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well |10| would be how far away ten is from zero. is 10 20 away from zero? (no, its 10 away from zero) the answer is B, because |20|, and |-20| can equal 20. absolute value is always positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok i get it can u help me with a few more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure, but I wont just give you the answers, im going to help you figure this out for the future kk?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so |x-5|=20 now, whatever x is, it has to be 5 more than 20, because that -5 will mess it up. then whatever that number is, will be your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oo actually you dont even need to do this. the 20 can only be positive right? how many answer options up there are negative c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be ... B??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeeeeep "D always look at the answer options before even solving it, sometimes it has stuff like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it :D can u help me out a ltitle more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll give you a hint about absolutue value, they can't be negative. that might help number 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is C & D for 4?? what bout 3?? would that be A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well for number 4 just check the ones that are negative...everything else is correct for number 3 take 7 and times it by 20, that will be x for number 5 add 6 to 14 and divide by 4, thats also x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for 3 is C?? and 4 C & D? 5 im not sure what that would be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 4 its a and b because negatives cant be a solution 3 is c, good job and I believe D is A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u mean 5 is A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I meant 5 :P my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is 3 more can u help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I really don't know tbh, we didnt spend much time on absolute value equations in math. I would try posting this again and seeing if somebody else can help, sorry
