Algebra Project - Help Please!! I'm begging you!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1) Create a quadratic function, f(x), in vertex form. The a should be between 4 and –4, the h will be your birth month, and the k will be your birth day. Write your equation below. 2) Using complete sentences, explain how to convert your birthday function into standard form. 3) Create two additional quadratic functions, g(x) and h(x). A. The function g(x) will open the same direction as f(x), have the same vertex, but will be narrower. B. The function h(x) will open in the opposite direction as f(x), have the same vertex, but will be wider than f(x). Write your functions below and explain in complete sentences why those functions will meet the requirements in the question. 4) Graph your functions. Include your graph below. 5) Using complete sentences, explain how to find the average rate of change for f(x) from x = 4 to x = 7. 6) Explain the appropriate translations of your graphs, if you were born two months earlier and 5 days later. Use complete sentences. My birthday: 08/15/1995

i would help but....... i am not so good in algebra

Well, thanks anyways @LexiGirl777 :)

Create a quadratic function, f(x), in vertex form. The a should be between 4 and –4, the h will be your birth month, and the k will be your birth day. Write your equation below. f(x)=3(x-8)2+15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. g(x)=2(x+-8)2+15. This meets the requirements because it opens in the same direction as function f(x) because a is positive which means it opens upward. It has the same vertex, 10, 1 because the h and k are the same as the function f(x), and it will be narrower since a is 2 which is less than the 3 used in the function f(x). B. h(x)=-2(x-8)2+15. This meets the requirements because it will open in the opposite direction, downwards, since a is negative. It has the same vertex, 10, 1 because the h and k are the same as the function f(x), and it will be wider because -2 is less than 3 and the smaller the number, the wider the parabola.

Google how to change an equation from vertex to standard form for #2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I messaged you a link that will help as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For #5 plug in 4 and 7 and solve like you would for a function and then find the slope for them which would give you the rate of change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you copy and paste those functions into this website: http://www.wolframalpha.com/ It will give you the parabola and you can save the image and then post it into your ducument

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did the same assignment earlier so I thought I'd help with yours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha awesome, thank you!!! :D @bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your welcome :) That $hit took me awhile...wouldn't want everyone else to suffer, lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahahaha you're amazing!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you find number 6 though???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DRip Do the same equation as earlier except change the numbers for your birthday. Say you were born on 08/15/1995 your new "birthday" would be 6/10/1995. Then enter that into the equation.
