Why might the author have used the following example of alliteration: "Silently, softly the swans swam on the lake."? A. The soft sound of the "S" gives the sentence a calming effect. B. The "s" can be said quickly to help note how fast the swans were swimming. C. The author obviously was ready to use a new type of figurative language. D.
