Why no work done in electric potential in crooked path or why is it conservative

i think, more exactly, there is no work done in the path perpendicular to the direction of the field. the conservative force is defined as the force in which work is independent of the path taken by the object, say, from point A to point B. Any path from A to B, whatever its shape, how long it is, as far as the path starts from equal point A, and end at equal point B, the work is in the same amount. the inverse square distance force (generally) is a conservative force
