Use the discriminant to determine the number and type of solutions the equation has. x2 + 6x + 12 = 0 A. two rational solutions B. no real solution C. one real solution D. two irrational solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

discriminant is: \[b ^{2}-4ac\] this is from the quadratic formula.. if \[b ^{2}-4ac >0\] it will have two rational solutions if \[b ^{2}-4ac <0\] it will not have any solutions if \[b ^{2}-4ac =0\] it will only have one root
